Cookie Notice
- Effective date:
- 20 August 2026
- Last updated:
- 6 October 2026
- Version:
- 1.0
- Owner:
- AI SMITH website team
This notice explains what cookies and similar storage technologies the AI SMITH website uses, and why. We keep this list deliberately short and update it whenever the technologies we use change — the categories below reflect what is actually running on this site, not a generic template list.
What cookies are
Cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) are small pieces of data a website can store in your browser to remember information between visits or requests. Not every website storage technology is a tracking cookie — some are strictly necessary for the site to function.
What we use
Strictly necessary storage
- Purpose: essential website functionality — for example, remembering your progress through a multi-step form, or a security-related setting.As of the last review date, the site sets no cookies or browser storage in this category; it is listed so this notice can be updated the moment a site feature genuinely needs one.
- Provider: AI SMITH (first-party).
- Duration: session-length or short-lived, only as long as needed for the function it supports.
- Choice: these cannot be switched off through a preference toggle, because the website cannot function correctly without them; you can still block them through your browser settings, but parts of the site (such as multi-step forms) may not work correctly if you do.
Analytics — Umami and Ahrefs Web Analytics (cookieless)
- Purpose: understanding, in aggregate, how visitors use our website — which pages are visited and how the site performs — so we can improve it.
- Providers: Umami and Ahrefs Web Analytics, two privacy-focused analytics tools that do not use tracking cookies and do not build an individual profile of you across websites.
- Duration: does not persist an identifying cookie in your browser.
- First/third-party status: cookieless analytics tools configured for this website only, used under our instruction for our website's aggregate reporting.
What we do not use
For clarity, this website does not use:
- advertising or marketing cookies of any kind;
- retargeting or cross-site tracking pixels;
- Google Analytics or any similar cookie-based analytics tool;
- social media tracking widgets; or
- any cookie category beyond the two listed above.
If this ever changes, this notice will be updated first, and any newly required consent will be requested before the new technology runs.
Choice and withdrawal
Because our analytics tool is cookieless and does not track you individually, and our only other storage is strictly necessary for the site to function, we do not currently need to show a cookie-consent banner requesting a choice for optional categories — there are no optional tracking categories running on this site. If that changes, we will add the appropriate consent mechanism before the new technology is active. You can still control browser-level storage at any time through your browser's privacy settings.
Effect of disabling
Because we don't run optional tracking cookies, disabling cookies in your browser will not affect any personalised advertising (we don't use any). If a strictly necessary function (such as multi-step form progress) is introduced in future, blocking cookies may affect it.
Relationship to privacy notice
This Cookie Notice works alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains our broader personal data practices. Aggregate analytics data collected through Umami and Ahrefs Web Analytics is covered by both notices; it does not identify you individually.
Updates
Last updated: 6 October 2026. This notice is reviewed whenever our website's technology changes, and at minimum during each scheduled legal-content review.
